One of the things I love about Trondheim is that you are never far from beautiful nature. The city is situated by the fjord Trondheimsfjorden and just outside the city there is a path going along a small peninsula called Lade. The Ladesten trail is about  6 km long and is also perfect for a stroll with the baby carriage. The brown house in the background is a serving location called Sponhuset (the Spon House). It got its name because of how it is built with hand cleaved wooden shavings covering the house. ( I hope I got the translation right here – give me notice if you don’t understand what it is all about). Sponhuset is a perfect stop for waffles and coffee when walking along the trail. You can reach this trail and the wonderful beaches along it by taking the bus for  only 10 minutes from downtown Trondheim.
